Preview of the Startup Runway Calculator spreadsheet showing cash, expenses, revenue inputs and runway output
This free spreadsheet calculates your startup runway from three inputs: your current cash balance, your monthly expenses, and your monthly revenue. It shows your runway in months, your net burn rate, and your projected cash-out date.
The template includes a 12-month projection table showing how your cash balance decreases month by month, a simple scenario section where you can model changes to expenses or revenue, and a summary dashboard with your key metrics.
It's designed for founders who want a quick runway check without building a full financial model. If you need something more powerful — live tracking, scenario overlay charts, alerts, and investor reports — RunwayCal does everything this spreadsheet does, automatically.

What this template can't do
- Doesn't update automatically when your expenses or revenue change — you have to remember to update it
- Can't model multiple scenarios side-by-side or overlay them on one chart
- No alerts when burn rate increases or runway drops below a threshold
- Can't share a live view with investors — you'd have to export and email
RunwayCal does this automatically
Instead of maintaining a spreadsheet, RunwayCal computes your runway from the team, tools, and deals you define. It updates in real-time, models scenarios with one click, alerts you when something changes, and shares a live dashboard with your board.
